8 Airline Travel Tips

When you fly as frequently as we do, you should do a few things every time to ensure a smooth flight to your destination. There ARE certain things to pack for the flight that will make you more comfortable, as well as specific things to avoid, such as being bumped from a flight because it is overbooked. To know how To Check Your Vistara PNR Status, click here

Here are the 8 Airline Travel Tips that will make your flight as painless and smooth as possible, putting you at ease:

1. Bring earphones from home to listen to music or watch TV on the plane. If not, they will cost you between $2 and $5 to buy on the flight... and they are usually of poor quality.

2. Chew gum or eat chewy candies during your flight's descent (usually 30-40 minutes before landing) to relieve air pressure, which WILL affect your ears on the way down. Chew every time, and the likelihood of having plugged or uncomfortable ears after the flight is reduced.

3. Bring a magazine, toys for the kids, a solitaire game, a laptop, or something to keep you occupied while sitting in your seat. The more distractions you have to keep your mind busy on a long flight, the better. Especially for the children.

4. Do you anticipate getting a good night's sleep on the flight? Do you think saving money saving light is a good idea because it'll be a good idea to be sleeping anyway? Consider again. If you can't imagine taking a 10-minute nap on your couch at home, this will be "no different." The seats do recline, but only a few inches. Getting a good night's sleep in your bed and then flying is the best option.

5. Register online as soon as possible to secure your preferred seat. If not, you may be bumped if the airline oversells its seats and no one volunteers to take the next flight. Oh, and this happens ALL THE TIME. We saw it happen twice this past week alone.

We usually find out the earliest check-in time, set our schedule/alarm, and check in and take our seats as soon as the clock strikes midnight (usually 24 hours in advance).

Don't be the last person to arrive 45 minutes before your flight, unchecked... if they're oversold and no volunteers are available, you're the easy choice to "Bump."

6. Print your boarding pass before heading to the airport to avoid long lines at check-in. This will save you significant time because you only need to enter the much shorter bag drop line. You'll arrive at the gate ahead of everyone else and feel more relaxed simply by pressing the "print document" button on your computer at home. Pezzy, take it easy!

7. It is best to book direct flights whenever possible because there is a higher risk of missing connections and being stuck somewhere other than your final destination. In addition, nothing is more stressful than worrying about making it to the gate on time.

8. Be adaptable. Flight times can vary significantly due to weather, crew changes, etc. Give your flight number to a family member or friend ahead of time so they can check your flight status and know when to pick you up. When taking a cruise or booking a theatrical show, the general rule is to arrive a day early for any scheduled events. This is critical because being significantly delayed by your flight could ruin your vacation  plans.
